dust.

"For you are dust, and to dust you shall return." —Genesis 3:19

I have gone to mass on Ash Wednesday since I can remember. However, this year, I was particularly struck by what the priest said when he put the ashes on my forehead {the Bible verse above}
We are only dust, and one day, we will return to dust.
Everything is His. Everything in the world is God's, and we can take none of it to heaven. We cannot even take our own physical bodies with us when we die. We can have everything material in the world, but it's nothing without God. All that we truly need is to know Him, because that is all that will matter when we meet Jesus.

Here's to a successful lenten season—in which we can recognize what truly matters in this life on Earth.
